The U.S. Attorney’s office for the Southern District of New York is holding a press conference to announce an indictment against U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez of New Jersey and his wife.
Menendez and his wife were charged Friday with three counts of conspiracy to commit bribery, conspiracy to commit honest services fraud and conspiracy to commit extortion under color of official right. Prosecutors also charged three businessmen: Wael Hana, Jose Uribe and Fred Daibes.
The indictment alleges that Menendez promised and moved to disrupt a federal criminal prosecution of Daibes in exchange for money and other items.
