Lindsey Buckingham Remembers Christine McVie: “I Feel Very Lucky to Have Known Her”

“Not only were she and I part of the magical family of Fleetwood Mac, to me Christine was a musical comrade, a friend, a soul mate, a sister”

Lindsey Buckingham has shared a statement remembering his friend and longtime Fleetwood Mac bandmate Christine McVie, who died Wednesday (November 30) at the age of 79. “Christine McVie’s sudden passing is profoundly heartbreaking,” Buckingham wrote in an Instagram post. “Not only were she and I part of the magical family of Fleetwood Mac, to me Christine was a musical comrade, a friend, a soul mate, a sister.” Buckingham continued:

For over four decades, we helped each other create a beautiful body of work and a lasting legacy that continues to resonate today. I feel very lucky to have known her. Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit will live on through that body of work and that legacy.

McVie’s family shared the news of her death yesterday, noting in a statement that she “passed away peacefully at hospital” following a short illness. The family added that she was “in the company of her family” at the time.

Shortly after, Stevie Nicks and Mick Fleetwood posted tributes to McVie on their respective Instagram accounts. Fleetwood Mac also shared a eulogy on social media, referring to McVie as “truly one-of-a-kind, special and talented beyond measure.”
