Why Taylor Swift Reportedly Is ‘in No Rush’ to Play the Super Bowl

LifeStyle

The 2024 Super Bowl is still half a year away, but talk of Taylor Swift playing the halftime show has picked back up in August 2023. All evidence points to Swift not playing at the big game in 2024—or even in the near years to come.

A source told Daily Mail on August 23, “She will do it eventually, but she is in no rush at all to do it in Vegas or do it in the next couple of years. She knows she is at her peak in her career and each move from this point on is as important as the next. Working on her current tour and recording her old music and working on new music and living life are taking up the majority of her time.”

Swift hasn’t personally addressed the Super Bowl rumors…but her tour schedule offers enough explanation.

Here, all that has come out so far about Swift’s feelings about playing the big game.

Swift’s international tour schedule makes it near impossible for her to be in Las Vegas for the game.

The next Super Bowl will take place on Sunday, February 11, 2024. Swift has already announced her international Eras tour dates, which include performances from February 7 to 10 in Tokyo, Japan. It’s highly unlikely Swift will play at, rehearse for, or promote the game at Nevada’s Allegiant Stadium the day after.

Swift was first reported to have turned down the Super Bowl on August 22.

Hits Daily Double reported in its Rumor Mill column that Swift “supposedly” declined an invitation to perform at the big game, which gained traction on social media. “We don’t know if this is just spin from Swift Nation HQ and she wants a big check from the NFL rather than incurring the substantial cost of mounting the show,” the outlet wrote.

The Daily Mail got extensive intel from a source on why Swift isn’t interested in playing the show imminently.

One day after Hits Daily Double’s report came out, Daily Mail got a detailed explanation of why the Swift won’t be gracing the halftime show stage any time in the near future. A source close to Swift said, in regards to 2024, “Taylor is busy with her current tour, she has zero time to prepare a Super Bowl show, she will do it eventually, but she is in no rush at all to do it in Vegas or do it in the next couple of years.

“She knows she is at her peak in her career and each move from this point on is as important as the next. Working on her current tour and recording her old music and working on new music and living life are taking up the majority of her time.

“The Super Bowl will be a nice thing to do someday but it is not a defining moment for her right now. She knows she has all the time in the world, and she always reminds her team that Madonna was 53 when she finally did the show herself, so timing is everything.

“Taylor is well aware of how she wants her career to develop and will do things her way and her way only and will not rush into something she doesn’t want to do just to do it and that includes the Super Bowl.”

The NFL has asked Swift to play multiple times before.

A source close to the NFL told the Daily Mail on August 23 that Swift is wanted for the show and has been for years. “Taylor will have her opportunity to be the Super Bowl Halftime Show and has been asked a handful of times but when it comes to next year and the show in Vegas, it will not be her.

“She wants to be a part of the show at some point and is leaning towards doing it in a few years, especially if the Super Bowl is in Nashville. But when it comes to Vegas, any Taylor fans shouldn’t be excited that she is going to do it, because it isn’t happening.”
