Kendrick Lamar has responded to Drakeâs latest diss tracks with the new song âEuphoria.â Listen to the new song below.
Lamar re-escalated a long-simmering beef with Drake with some pointed lyrics on âLike That.â (The track also had some words for J. Cole, who responded with his own â7 Minute Drill,â but the North Carolina musician has since apologized for his diss song and pulled it from digital streaming platforms.) Drake went back at Lamar on âPush Upsâ and âTaylor Made Freestyle.â The latter track used artificial intelligence to emulate vocals from 2Pac, which prompted a threatening response from the late rapperâs estate. As a result, Drake removed the song from his social media pages.
Kendrick Lamarâs âEuphoriaâ begins softly, and the rapper doesnât address Drake directly until the final lines of his first verse: âKnow you a master manipulator and habitual liar, too/But donât tell no lie âbout me, and I wonât tell truths âbout you.â
The beat picks up and Lamar is sharper in his words against the Toronto artist. For instance, he plays on Drakeâs name and the Draco Pistol when he raps, âThe very first time I shot me a Dracâ, the homie had told me to aim it this way/I didnât point down enough/Today, I show you I learned from those mistakes.â He also makes direct reference to âTaylor Made Freestyleâ when he says, âSomebody had told me that you got a ring/On God, Iâm ready to double the wage/Iâd rather do that than let a Canadian n—a make âPac turn in his grave.â
Later, after mentioning J. Cole and Drake by name, Lamar brings up another major Drake nemesis, Pusha T, and questions Drakeâs aptitude as a fatherâsomething Pusha T famously did on âThe Story of Adidon.â
Longtime Lamar collaborator Jay Rock praised âEuphoriaâ on X, writing, âNow this ainât no AI⦠see I know Kdot!! Euphoria.â
Terrence âPunchâ Henderson, the president of Lamarâs former label home, Top Dawg Entertainment, posted simply, âWell.â
Anthony âTop Dawgâ Tiffith, the founder and CEO of Top Dawg Entertainment, added on X, âWe saw everybody that showed their hand. This the family. Dot still the King. TDE.â
Without acknowledging âEuphoriaâ explicitly, Kendrick Lamarâs âLike Thatâ collaborator Metro Boomin posted on X, âThank God for the day!â and, âðððððððð.â
