Taylor Swift’s feud with top music producer Scooter Braun is set to be featured in Warner Bros. Discovery U.K. & Ireland’s latest season of its popular docu series vs on Discovery+.
Taylor Swift vs Scooter Braun: Bad Blood will explore the public and “gripping” quarrel between the pop superstar and the industry mogul, taking a deep dive into the $300 million dispute as Braun acquired the rights to Swift’s first six albums in 2019, the company said on Tuesday.
She has since been re-recording and re-releasing each album as “Taylor’s Versions,” which has skyrocketed the star to stratospheric levels of fame.
The two hour-long episodes, produced by Optomen, will follow the opposing sides of the dispute, one exploring Swift’s take that “the sale was conducted without consulting her and that she has since been blocked from buying back her masters,” the other, focusing on Braun’s allegations that “Swift refused to negotiate and instead incited a public feud by pitting her fan base against him.”
Viewers will be taken through a “comprehensive” examination of the clash, looking into the intricacies of music ownership, gender dynamics in the industry, and the power of fan influence.
The series has also promised the input of legal experts, journalists, and those close to both Swift and Braun, presenting each side of the argument.
Charlotte Reid, vp commissioning, networks & streaming at WBD U.K. & Ireland, said: “Taylor Swift’s dispute with Scooter Braun over the ownership of her music exploded into the mainstream, taking contract law from board room to social media and into public interest. It’s a high-profile, high-interest story that opened debate on fandom and dominated headlines, one which will resonate with our viewers who are highly engaged with access-led documentaries like ‘vs.’”
Taylor Swift vs Scooter Braun: Bad Blood will premiere on Discovery+ in June 2024, following successful installments such as Johnny vs Amber, Kim vs Kanye: The Divorce, and Vardy vs Rooney: The Wagatha Trial.
