What is 250 lbs., over eight feet long, and costs more than Subaru? It’s the Nosferatu novelty sarcophagus bed, of course.
Focus Features announced today the ultimate gift for the Nosferatu-heads out there, a replica of the resting place of the famous vampire at the center of Robert Eggers’ newest film. Retailing for $20,000, the bed looks like what you would imagine the bed of a Transylvanian walking nightmare to look like— heavy, imposing and gray.
“Hand crafted from premium materials including a wooden base with intricate carvings. These highly collectible Sarcophagi also feature a distinctive interior with a custom-fit mattress and foam lid for easy opening at sundown,” reads the description of the sarcophagi.
While the Nosferatu sarcophagus debuted ahead of the holidays, the official NBCUniversal shop site warns that the beds, which are made to order, likely won’t arrive in time for Christmas.
Eggers directs the reimagined classic vampire film, which stars Lily-Rose Depp, Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Willem Dafoe and Bill Skarsgård. “Exciting, repulsive and beautiful in equal measure,” reads The Hollywood Reporter’s review of the film. “Steeped in dense atmosphere and macabre poetry, Christmas counterprogramming doesn’t get much darker than this exquisitely crafted fever dream.”
Nosferatu hits theaters on Christmas Day.
