A$AP Rocky Talks About Being a New Father With Girlfriend Rihanna and Their Future Plans

LifeStyle

Rapper A$AP Rocky is a new father, welcoming his baby boy on May 13 with his girlfriend, beauty mogul and musical artist Rihanna. Rocky was interviewed for the cover of Dazed‘s summer 2022 edition and he shared a bit about his expectations of himself as a parent.

After being asked what kind of dad he wants to be, the musician said, “I will always remind my children to never lose their imagination, even as adults, no matter what. I actually love to watch cartoons – I’ve watched like, Teletubbies, Blue’s Clues, Yo Gabba Gabba, Peppa Pig and Baby Shark.”

He continued, “I hope to raise open-minded children. Not people who discriminate. And I’m not trying to describe a saint, but realistically, I just want a cool child with cool parents.”

Other cute details from A$AP’s interview include the fact that he calls Rihanna “my lady,” and that folks who attended the couple’s baby shower received t-shirts to take home that read, “I went to Rih & Rocky’s Rave Shower and all I got was this amazing shirt.”

He believes his connection to Rihanna and the birth of their child was cosmically aligned. Rocky felt especially moved by whatever grander forces brought them together when he joined her in Barbados to meet her family and relatives of his late father, who was also from the island.

“It was one of the most surreal experiences I’ve ever encountered in my lifetime,” he said.

They’re also quite in sync when it comes to fashion; Rihanna’s maternity style was noted everywhere, as she looked amazing wherever she went through every trimester. According to Rocky, they don’t have to work too hard to look good together.

“I think it’s just natural. We happen to look good together naturally,” he explained. “You know, it would take a lot of work to have us forcefully match before we leave the house. Sometimes we match to a T, or we just wear the same clothes. If I buy a shirt that she likes, I expect to get it stolen… but then I gotta steal it back.”
