Ariana Grande has revealed that “time and therapy” have helped her to reconnect with and “re-embrace” her old music.

The ‘Yes, And?’ singer discussed the topic during her recent impressively-controlled appearance on Hot Ones, on which host Sean Evans asked her if there were songs she would like to retire.

It prompted Grande to discuss how it can be challenging to interact with songs that were created during difficult times in her life. Watch the full episode of the YouTube show below.

“There was a time when it was hard for me to feel that same gratitude that I do now for certain songs and for the music because I think some of it was like a stressful time and I think becoming a pop star is insane at 19 or 20 and I think that experience was sort of married to some of the songs a little bit,” she explained.

“Or like some of the songs that are more emotional that the experience that inspired them can be married to the music to me for a second, but with time and therapy we sort of are able to re-embrace, so I feel just really proud and grateful and happy when I hear them, whereas I used to maybe hear it and cry.”

In other Ariana news, she has said she’s working on finding dates for a “mini” tour to support ‘Eternal Sunshine’, the album she released in March.

NME awarded the release a glowing four-star review and described it as a “sophisticated break-up album worth losing yourself in”.

It was also named on NME’s list of the best albums of this year so far, with it being summarised as seeing the singer “reckon with life, love and divorce on a comeback album that’s as inventive as it is intimate”.

Grande is also set to star in the upcoming film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical Wicked.

Coming to cinemas in two parts, the films will star Cynthia Erivo, Grande and Jeff Goldblum, and tell the untold story of the witches of Oz. A trailer for the film arrived in May.

After the global domination of ‘Barbenheimer’ in 2023, movie fans are anticipating ‘Glicked’ in the final months of 2024, with both Wicked and Gladiator II being released on November 22.
