Bling Empire TV Show on Netflix: canceled or renewed?

Netflix is closing the chapter on the Bling Empire franchise. The streaming service has cancelled both of its wealthy Asian-American reality shows. Per Deadline, viewers will not see a fourth season of Bling Empire or a second season of its spin-off, Bling Empire: New York.

The original Bling Empire series follows Christine Chiu, Kane Lim, Kelly Mi Li, Kevin Kreider, Gabriel Chu, Anna Shay, Cherie Chan, Jessey Lee, Kim Lee, Andrew Gray, Jamie Xie, and Guy Tang as they lived their lives in Los Angeles, enjoying fabulous parties and expensive shopping sprees, while also running multi-billion dollar businesses and traveling the world. Along the way, they also spill secrets.

The third season of 10 episodes (the show’s biggest order) launched on October 5th and promptly landed on Netflix’s Top 10 list. In its first few days, Bling Empire drew 15.21 million hours viewed. In its first full week, it garnered another 10.63 million hours viewed. It dropped off the list after that.

The Bling Empire: New York spin-off follows Dorothy Wang (who appeared in the second season of the original series), Tina Leung, Deborah Hung, and Stephen Hung. The show follows a group of socialites as they flaunt the fortunes and fashions in the Big Apple.

The eight-episode first season of the spin-off arrived in January and attracted 14.28 million hours viewed in its first week of release. It dropped off the list after that.

While these shows’ seasons had decent starts, their viewership apparently wasn’t strong enough for Netflix to want to take a chance on making new episodes.

What do you think? Have you watched these Netflix reality series? Did you want to see more of Bling Empire and its spin-off?
