Britney Spears has signed a book deal with publishing house Simon & Schuster worth as much as $15 million, according to Page Six and People. The deal has also been reported by Variety and Deadline, neither of which independently confirmed the $15 million figure. Pitchfork has reached out to Spears’ lawyer, Mathew S. Rosengart, as well as representatives for Simon & Schuster for comment and additional information.

Spears’ deal with Simon & Schuster reportedly came about after a bidding war among multiple publishers. The deal was described to Page Six as “one of the biggest of all time, behind the Obamas,” who reportedly signed a $60 million deal with Penguin Random House in 2017.

Spears’ forthcoming book is described in the reports as a “tell-all memoir.” The news of the book comes just a few months after the singer’s longstanding conservatorship was terminated by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny. The conservatorship had been in place since 2008, and Spears had been fighting since at least 2014 to end it. The conservatorship had been overseen by Spears’ father James “Jamie” Spears.
