Chris Martin’s dad has gone viral for filming one of Coldplay’s shows on a phone with a flip cover.
It comes on the heels of the band’s two massive shows in India earlier this month. Taking place at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Saturday (January 25) and Sunday (26), the gigs marked the latest dates on their massive ‘Music Of The Spheres’ tour.
They were also confirmed as being the biggest stadium shows of the 21st century, bringing in over 220,000 across two nights.
However, it wasn’t just the band that had the spotlight for the gigs, as fans were quick to notice the frontman’s father, Anthony Martin, in attendance. Throughout the Sunday show, he was seen taking photos of the crowd on his phone and filming nearby fans singing along to the songs.
Sharing footage of him online, one fan took to Instagram to share how Chris Martin’s dad took a shawl made by a fan so he could give it to the frontman.

“He is not just Chris’ dad, he is everybody’s dad in the band and the crew! He is THE DAD,” they wrote in the caption. “You will never forget him if you have met him. He also took one of the fans’ shawls, which she had knitted for Chris.”
One fan also recalled meeting Anthony at the gig and having the opportunity to take Chris on a scooter ride around the city.
Sharing photos of himself with the former in the crowd, he described the event as “such an unforgettable experience”.
Others on Instagram couldn’t help but notice the flip phone case he had. “Hence proved. All fathers have the flip case for their phone,” one commented, while someone else chimed in: “HE’S EVEN GOT A FLIP COVER MY HEART”.

The shows in India came as yet another milestone for Coldplay as it was confirmed last summer that the stint was officially the highest-grossing rock tour ever – making $945.7million and selling 8.8million tickets since it began in March 2022.
Since then, it has reportedly sold 12million tickets to date and grossed over $1billion. This makes it the second most successful tour in history, only overtaken by Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras Tour’.
Alongside breaking records, the ‘Music Of The Spheres’ tour has also been praised for “setting a new standard” when it comes to an eco-conscious approach to live music, thanks to a slew of sustainable initiatives introduced by the band.
Later this year, the band will embark on a UK tour this summer, where they will take over stadiums in London and Hull. Also, showing their commitment to providing support for grassroots venues, 10 per cent of their proceeds will be donated to Music Venue Trust. Visit here for any remaining tickets.
