Dancing with the Stars pro Artem Chigvintsev was arrested Thursday morning on suspicion of domestic violence.

According to online jail records, the professional dancer was booked into Napa County jail at 10:40 am PT for California penal code 273.5(a), which states that “any person who willfully inflicts corporal injury resulting in a traumatic condition upon” a current or former spouse, cohabitant, fiancé or fiancée, or fellow parent “is guilty of a felony.”

Chigvintsev was later released Thursday afternoon after posting a $25,000 bail. Law enforcement officials have not disclosed what led to his arrest or any details about the alleged victim.

Chigvintsev has been married to WWE alum Nikki Garcia since 2022 and share a son together. They began dating when they were paired on ABC’s dance competition series in 2019. Three days before his arrest, they each posted on their respective social media accounts, celebrating their anniversary.

It was not immediately clear if Garcia was involved in the incident.

The professional dancer has competed on 12 seasons of Dancing with the Stars, including last season, where he came in fourth place with Charity Lawson. He previously won the show’s 29th season with Kaitlyn Bristowe in 2020. Before Dancing with the Stars, Chigvintsev was a star on Strictly Come Dancing, the U.K. version of the dancing competition series.

The Hollywood Reporter also learned that Chigvintsev was not set to be part of season 33 of Dancing with the Stars, which premieres on Sept. 17.

Representatives for Chigvintsev, Garcia and the Napa County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond to THR‘s request for comment.
