Every September marks a season of new beginnings. Summer is finally over, kids are back in school, and New York Fashion Week is officially upon us. This year is shaping up to be the biggest one in recent memory, with just over 100 designers showing IRL and online, including a few Europeans. We’re hitting the streets to catch all the happenings in real time, and our editors are capturing content faster than you can say “runway.” Keep scrolling for our roundup of highlights from each day, from runway looks to A-list sightings and anything and everything between. Day One: Thursday, Sept. 8
My caffeine intake typically doubles to make it through fashion week. The first stop of the morning—a party to celebrate the launch of Dior’s new J’adore scent—was unrelated to the day’s shows, but fueled me up for running around the city with a very chic gold latte nonetheless.—Margaux Anbouba, Beauty Editor
Saks was handing out bumps at its annual NYFW party co-hosted by Chloë Bailey—of caviar, that is. (You have to keep it classy.) Pair that creative app with its signature drink, the L’Avenue Cosmopolitan, and sightings of James Charles and James Harden, and you’ve got a perfect start to the chaos that is fashion week.—Madison Rexroat, Fashion and Accessories Assistant
My first show of the season was emerging designer Lu Chen, whose collection of surreal gowns and pretty damn perfect utilitarian skirts juxtaposed wonderfully with its setting, right in the heart of Flatiron. Bringing fashion to the streets has a whole new meaning!—Kevin LeBlanc, Fashion Associate
I’m not gonna lie, I cried my eyes out last night at the Lionne show, when designer Latoia Fitzgerald’s boyfriend, pro basketball player Rajon Rondo, proposed to her RIGHT in front of me at the end of the show. A truly unforgettable moment.—Jade Vallario, Market Editor
My main thought when I arrived at Opening Ceremony’s 20th anniversary party: What year is it? Held at Schimanski, an industrial warehouse-slash-night club in Brooklyn, the celebration of OC20 felt like a time warp to the early 2000s, when indie sleaze was at its peak. Fittingly, Cobrasnake, the unofficial documenter of Y2K nightlife, was in attendance taking photos. Bowen Yang and Ilana Glazer got in on the action, too.—Claire Stern, Digital Deputy Editor

Day 2: Friday, Sept. 9
I barreled through a crowd of tourists on 34th Street last night trying to make it to the Fendi show on time, when suddenly everyone on the sidewalk stopped walking forward and starting stepping backward. Men in black suits were yelling while a black SUV with tinted windows pulled up, holding none other than Kim Kardashian (in Fendi couture, naturally). I nearly broke my ankle for the shot, but it was worth it.—Jade Vallario, Market Editor
I love going backstage at Collina Strada because designer Hillary Taymour knows the power of beauty. Case in point: She tapped Bella Hadid’s hairstylist, Evanie Frausto, to create 10-foot braids for many of models. Each one was hand-painted with an Aztec clay face mask (yes, the Amazon bestseller). Terrence Zhou of Bad Binch TongTong gave us a performance instead of a runway. Dancers flittered and floated in his sculptural, body-defying pieces that are (literally) made to move. These two dancing sunbursts made out of what looks like pool floaties encapsulate his silly yet sensual ethos.—Kevin LeBlanc, Fashion Associate
Friday was impossibly fresh, from real grass at Kate Spade to food sculptures at Simon Miller (pictured above) along with a J.Law sighting (in bright green shoes!), and a bedazzled broccoli bag at Collina Strada. Harwell Godfrey and De Beers Group’s cocktail party at Temple Bar was so chic and intimate that I straight up forgot I was going to the Fendi show. I mean, just look at this Charity Heart pendant featuring an ethically sourced natural diamond from De Beers. One hundred percent of proceeds support Everytown for Gun Safety; designer Lauren Harwell Godfrey told me she’s already raised $250,000 and hopes to get to a million.
