Kate Hudson Frosts Herself In Bvlgari at the 2021 Golden Globes

LifeStyle

It’s been fourteen years since Kate Hudson “frosted herself” for How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. Since then, the Music actress has worn countless red carpet looks that rival Andie Anderson’s iconic yellow dress, but last night’s Golden Globes outfit doubled down on the diamonds. For the virtual awards show, Hudson frosted herself—apologies, the tagline was as cringe-y then as it is now—in jaw-dropping BVLGARI jewels and an equally sparkly off-the-shoulder gown by Louis Vuitton.

“We love the classic Bvlgari Serpenti earrings,” said stylist Sophie Lopez. “They are the perfect shape for the dress.”

While awards season looks a little different amidst a global pandemic, that doesn’t mean celebrities are holding back in the glam department. For Hudson, that meant over 38 carats in diamonds and a casual 13-carat sapphire ring. “We opted for layers and a cool earring moment,” said Sophie Lopez, Hudson’s longtime stylist on the Serpenti earrings the actress wore for the night. “We decided to layer two pairs in each ear and add another diamond stud in one ear, to keep it modern and cool in keeping with the dress.”

We gained behind-the-scenes access to Hudson prepping for her night at home, where she answered our questions about what she misses most about real-life awards shows, hitting the pandemic wall, and what happened to Andie’s gown, below.

What ever happened to the yellow dress you wore in How to Lose a Guyin 10 Days?

You know what? I have no idea where that dress is! I know it was Carolina Herrera and our amazing costume designer designed the dress with Carolina’s team. I do not know where it is, but I feel like we should find it!

What do you miss most about IRL awards shows?

One of the things I love about award season is that it’s the one time I get see all of the people that I don’t get to see all year. It really is, for all of us, about how much we love the arts, how much we love our community and it’s a blast! I personally enjoy the Golden Globes because it feels a little more relaxed and it’s more of a dinner party. There’s wine at the table and it’s always more rambunctious, which is fun. The after-parties seem to be a little wilder too! It’s really the one time of year I know I’m going to stay out late.

Is there anything you don’t miss about awards season?

Not really! I feel like if you’re showing up for award season that you should be incredibly grateful that that’s where you are in your career and that you’ve even been invited. So, I feel grateful every award season that I get to check in with all of my circus friends.

We’re all starting to hit a pandemic wall. Do you have any advice on how to push forward?

Definitely hitting a bit of a wall with the pandemic. That said, I’m staying very focused. It’s like the universe is testing us to just stay focused on staying healthy, staying connected and making sure we keep others safe. I don’t really have any advice other than to take things one day at a time. I’m literally just trying to take one day at a time and I’ve never done more breathing exercises in my life!

If you could reprise any of your mother’s roles, what would it be?

I wouldn’t reprise any of my Mom’s roles. But Wildcats, I loved. I loved being on that set. I remember Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes. I was a little girl and they were all so kind to me. It’s one of those movies that I think would be great to re-make or make a sequel.
