Neseblod Records, the famous black metal site in Norway has been damaged by a fire according to reports.

As noted in Verdens Gang (VG), the iconic record store and venue space caught fire on April 9 and the surrounding apartments in the area were also evacuated due to the amount of smoke the fire caused.

The cause of the fire is as yet unknown; police received a report of a fire by a witness who saw flames in the basement of the property.

The cause of the fire is now currently under investigation.

The basement of the famed store was also a black metal museum of sorts. The venue’s owner, Kenneth Neseblod said: “Much of what we have is only on display and not for sale. It’s a museum-like venue at the same time as a record store. We have records, cassettes and tape trading letters that were previously used to write to each other in the metal community.”

A GoFundMe page to help Neseblod Records recover from the damage caused by the fire has now been set up.

The person who set up the page, called Darren, said: “I have been working with many Norwegian Black Metal bands over the years and Neseblod Records (Formerly Helvete) in the heart of Oslo, it has been part of the scene since the beginning of this unique musical movement, and is the heart and spirit of the genre,” the description reads.

“A fire ripped through the basement and shop last night destroying an archive of rare Black Metal History!, I am starting this Go Fund Me to help Kenneth get back on his feet.”

Over £22,000 has been raised via the page at the time of writing.
