Mica Levi has teamed up with Alpha Maid, the project of experimental UK artist Leisha Thomas, for a new EP of sludgy rock music. Check out Spresso below.
The collaborative EP is Levi’s first extended output since the grungey albums Ruff Dogg and Blue Alibi, released in quick succession in late 2020 and early 2021. They recently announced that they had reunited with Jonathan Glazer to score Zone of Interest, the director’s long-awaited follow-up to Under the Skin.
Levi released a single, “Skunk Boy,” last year via Dean Blunt’s World Music label. In 2021, they also contributed a song with Eliza McCarthy to the debut compilation LP from a label called Music. Curl, Levi’s own label with Coby Sey and Brother May, released a compilation the same year.
Spresso is Alpha Maid’s third EP, following the exploratory rock records Spy and Chuckle.
