Ever since LeBron teased Nike’s latest collaboration, tech-fitness junkies have been itching for an official announcement, and they finally got it last week. The performance giant fully unveiled its highly-anticipated joint effort with Hyperice, the recovery-focused brand whose advanced massage guns have taken the world. The athlete-approved collection features a pair of high-top recovery boots and a high-tech recovery vest.

The former may not look as cool as the Nike MAGs, but their features are about as futuristic as it gets. Hyperice’s signature Normatec “bladders,” bonded to each shoe, allow athletes to balance the temperature and compression levels. There are three to select; users can toggle between tightnesses using the battery pack placed in both insoles.

James, who posted a picture of himself rocking the boots on his Instagram, has nothing but praise for the collaboration, saying, “From the moment I tried the Nike x Hyperice boots and vest while they were still in development more than a year ago, I knew they were going to change the game for athletes’ warm-up and recovery.”

For what would likely be a pretty gimmicky product if it were coming from anyone other than Nike, it’s only fitting for me to say… but wait, there’s more! In addition to the adjustable recovery boots, the two brands have developed a high-tech vest boasting instant heating or cooling features—no ice or water tanks required. Equipped with built-in sensors and thermal modules throughout, the two elements work in tandem to maintain optimal body temperature mid- and post-workout.

Although neither brand is yet to reveal any official release details, they’re expected to hit shelves towards the end of 2024. Until then, Olympic athletes have been testing their capabilities, including Belgian runner Nafi Thiam, who claims they’ve become a critical part of her morning routine before heading to workouts. Learn more about it on Hyperice’s website.
