In addition to dating its new Mean Girls movie theatrically, Paramount has set Oct. 18, 2024 for the next Smile movie.

In addition, the Bob Marley biopic is now going wide on Feb. 14 instead of Jan. 12 next year. Reinaldo Marcus Green directs Kingsley Ben-Adir in the title role as the legendary reggae musician.

Smile was a diamond in the rough for Paramount last fall, getting moved from Paramount+ and morphing into a blockbuster hit on screen, grossing over $105M domestic and $217M-plus worldwide. The pic rained cash on theaters at a time when most studios had moved several movies out the autumn due to the post-production backup of movies caused by the pandemic.

Parker Finn is coming back to helm Smile 2. Cast still TBD due to the strikes. The studio wanted to grab the date. Paramount Pictures Brian Robbins announced Smile 2 back at CinemaCon.

In addition, the studio is moving the animated movie The Tiger’s Apprentice from theatrical to Paramount+. The pic was previously dated Jan. 19, 2024. Kids and family content plays really well in the streaming service.

As we first told you, the new Mean Girls movie is going over MLK weekend next year, Jan. 12, 2024.
