With wanderlust as their guide, resortwear label Orlebar Brown and Savile Row tailors Gieves & Hawkes are teaming up for a historic capsule collection. Inspired by the likes of Columbus and Cortés, the range is designed for the modern-day explorer, with reverence for the past.

The collection includes a pith helmet, safari jacket, multi-pocket utility vest, cargo trousers, desert boots, along with T-shirts, swim shorts and accessories. Vibrant and subtle patterns are present throughout, including prints inspired by the cartography work of pre-eminent Scottish explorer David Livingstone.

Designed for the intrepid man, each piece is as much about functionality as fashion. The swim shorts, for example, incorporate side fasteners to cope with your fluctuating waistline, as well as a mesh lining for comfort, while the explorer jacket features six pockets, including interior jet pockets, for all those maps and provisions (or, more likely, phone chargers). Meanwhile, on the OB tee, the collection’s motto is put front and centre: “I am prepared to go anywhere, provided it be forward.”

The Orlebar Brown x Gieves & Hawkes collection is available now at orlebarbrown.co.uk, priced from £75.
