Warner Bros. Television Group chairman and CEO Channing Dungey is set to return to the Banff World Media Festival to keynote its 2024 edition.

Dungey did an informal conversation appearance in Banff in 2021 soon after being named to head up the Hollywood studio’s TV group.  And in 2018, Dungey was in Banff for a keynote address when serving as chairman of ABC Entertainment, which was followed by a short stint at Netflix as vp of original series.

“Channing’s unparalleled expertise and insights are a key driver in shaping the future of the entertainment industry. She is a visionary whose impact transcends screens,” Jenn Kuzmyk, Banff executive director, said in a statement.

At WBTV, Dungey runs a TV studio tethered to Max, a streaming platform, and within a Warner Bros. business now part of Warner Bros. Discovery. In all, Dungey oversees TV production on almost 90 scripted, unscripted and animated series for streaming platforms, cable and broadcast networks.

Her appearance in Banff arrives as Hollywood’s studios and streamers emerge from dual strikes and are now in a cost-cutting mode. At the same time, Warner Bros. Discovery is looking to continue the rollout of Max in key international markets, and bolster its creative pipeline across its film and TV studios.

Dungey will deliver a keynote address at Banff’s 45th edition set to run June 9 to 12 as part of the Summit Series sidebar. Banff earlier announced Rob Wade, CEO of Fox Entertainment, will also deliver a Summit Series keynote at the festival.

Dungey and Wade will headline a festival set to debut Soundtrack, a program focused on screen-based music as the lines between technology, artificial intelligence  and entertainment increasingly blur.
