Willie Nelson’s Luck Reunion took place yesterday (March 14) at the country music legend’s Texas ranch. At one point during the evening, Nelson performed “Rainbow Connection” with the Muppet behind the hit song, Kermit the Frog. Watch footage below.
Kermit the Frog released his iconic “Rainbow Connection” in 1979, and the track has been covered many times, including by Willie Nelson on 2001’s Rainbow Connection. Nelson also performed the song with Kacey Musgraves at the Country Music Association Awards in 2019.
Also yesterday, Nelson announced his new album The Border, which is out May 31 via Legacy. Listen to the title track—a cover of Rodney Crowell’s 2019 Texas song—below.
