Apple TV has another thriller coming to its library in September, but will there be more than one chapter of Last Seen, based on a book?
The series follows a former police detective, Ian Ridley (Patrick Brammall) who, while working as a dispatcher, thinks he’s may have found his daughter who went missing years ago. Is he right, or is he just hoping that he has? Will he able to bring his family back together? We’ll have to see how the drama, premiering on September 9, plays out.

That’s yet to be seen. It will all depend on how the first season ends and if there’s more to tell after its six episodes.

Serving as executive producers on the series are Jamie Laurenson and Hakan Kousetta at 60Forty Films and Christian Schwochow (who also directs), Kris Mrksa (also a writer), and Joanna Werner at Werner Film Productions.
Is Last Seen based on a book?
Yes. The show was originally titled The Dispatcher after the Ryan David Jahn’s book on which it’s based. Should the series return for Season 2, it could very possibly go beyond the story of the book, as other shows based on novels have.

“Police detective Ian Ridley’s (Brammall) life fell apart 11 years ago when his young daughter Maggie disappeared without a trace. Now working as a police dispatcher, the only thing that has kept him going is his implacable refusal to accept that she might be gone forever,” the official description teases. “When he receives a distress call from a teenage girl he is certain is Maggie, he will stop at nothing to find her and reunite his broken family, whatever the cost.”
