Faith No More announce first live shows in more than a decade with System Of A Down

Faith No More have announced their first live shows in more than a decade, teaming up with System of a Down for a run of co-headlining dates in 2027.

Faith No More have been largely inactive for the last decade since the release of their comeback album ‘Sol Invictus’ in 2015. Since then, they played their last live shows in 2016, and have subsequently cancelled various tour plans in the years since – although they did recently tease a live return for next year.

Now, the band have announced four shows for 2027, kicking off at Sydney’s Accor Stadium on January 22, with dates then taking them to Melbourne, Brisbane, and Wellington. “It’s been a minute,” Faith No More wrote on social media. “Let’s do this Australia and NZ.”

After Faith No More’s 2016 shows concluded, the band shared plans to hit the road again in 2020, but went on to scrap all of the shows due to Covid restrictions.

Other plans emerged in 2021 when venues started to reopen, but these were also cancelled ahead of the start date, with frontman Mike Patton citing mental health reasons. He later revealed he had been diagnosed with agoraphobia during the pandemic.

Their guitarist Roddy Bottum spoke about the future of the band last year, and said at the time that they were in a “really weird spot”.

A similar stance was shared by drummer Mike Bordin last spring, when he claimed that he and some bandmates were open to the idea of playing live, but Patton was allegedly “unwilling to do shows with us”.
