I’m Thrilled Peacock Renewed The Five-Star Weekend, But Some Key Characters Are Missing

I’m thrilled that Peacock renewed The Five-Star Weekend for a second season. 

I don’t remember the last time the streamer renewed a scripted series, and we need more shows that appeal to middle-aged viewers.

I’m a sucker for female-led series that highlight strong friendships, and The Five-Star Weekend delivered on that beautifully.

There haven’t been that many series that showcase female friendships that come through for you after several decades.

That’s what makes The Five-Star Weekend, Prime Video’s Ride or Die, or Netflix’s Firefly Lane so heartwarming and relatable.

I can’t wait to see what Hollis (Jennifer Garner), Dru-Ann (Regina Hall), Tatum (Chloë Sevigny), and Brooke (D’Arcy Camden) are up to next year and if they vacation in Greece.

Hopefully, most of The Five-Star Weekend highlights the complexities of their relationship; I hope a few key characters also make appearances, or it could be a missed opportunity.

How The Five-Star Weekend Can Incorporate The Core Four Ladies

The Five-Star Weekend is built around a getaway, and Hollis, Dru-Ann, Tatum, and Brooke vowed to travel somewhere bigger next year, like Greece, so the trip would be at the heart of it.

I’m sure between the four of them there will always be dramatic chaos, especially as Dru-Ann started her own agency and Brooke started a new relationship.

Those life changes took courage and adjustments. It will also be interesting to see how Tatum and Hollis’s friendship has changed now that they see each other on a regular basis.

Has Hollis mellowed after living on Nantucket, or does she still need a structured schedule?

If the ladies travel to Greece, I wonder how much we’d see them in Nantucket ahead of time, or if we’d only see them on their vacation.

Part of the appeal of their friendship is seeing their everyday stressors, and how the getaway either helps with that or makes it worse.

The Five-Star Weekend Season 2 Cast Is Missing Some Key Players

Granted, it’s early days, and the writers are still negotiating contracts. They know they want the core four ladies back, but I think they also need to bring back Gigi and Jack in some capacity.

While Hollis and Gigi had an emotional confrontation in the finale, Gigi is a commercial airline pilot. There’s a chance she could be flying the ladies’ flight to Greece.

She doesn’t need a huge role, but I’d like to see her come face-to-face with Hollis again after a year to see how emotions have cooled.

Could the ladies talk, or would they just politely acknowledge each other?

I also think Jack (Timothy Olyphant) needs to recur. While the series needs to focus mainly on the women’s friendships, The Five-Star Weekend Season 1 ended with Jack and Hollis’s relationship just beginning.

The series showcased their chemistry, and fans want to see more of that.

Don’t deny us more of those sizzling kisses or angsty connection.

Even if he and Kyle don’t join the women in Greece, at least show us some updates in the premiere and the finale and some sexy phone calls.
