Television’s Richard Lloyd Diagnosed With Cancer

Richard Lloyd, the co-founding guitarist of Television, has been diagnosed with bile duct cancer, according to a crowdfunding campaign posted on his band’s social media pages. Sean Seymour, one of Lloyd’s bandmates in the Richard Lloyd Group, wrote on the campaign page that Lloyd was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma in March, and has since survived two bouts of sepsis and seven visits to the ICU. Contribute to the crowdfunder at GoFundMe.

Seymour notes that one tumor in Lloyd’s liver is “dangerously close to a major blood vessel,” making a removal operation unsafe. He adds that Richard is unable to tour and that his wife, Sheila, is working as his full-time caregiver.

Lloyd provided the following statement to the campaign: “I am usually a pretty upbeat person and I am taking this in stride, but it has become very difficult on our own and financially we are strapped. That’s why I’m asking for your help. If you can see your way clear to make a donation please do that. Otherwise, please pass it around to your friends that might help and people that know me.”
