It’s not very often that a film franchise picks up steam as it continues, but that certainly seems to be the case with Evil Dead and its latest outing, Evil Dead Burn. Bloodier, more gruesome, and just plain meaner this time around, the Deadites somehow manage to get nastier with each reincarnation.
In this particular installment, the carnage moves to a new setting with a new batch of unlucky souls forced to contend with the ancient evil unleashed by the Necronomicon. And if you thought Evil Dead Rise pushed the franchise’s stomach-churning limits, Evil Dead Burn looks ready to see just how much further they can go.
Here is a look at all the bloody mishaps that occur in Evil Dead Burn: Who lives, who dies, and how the film sets up the next film, Evil Dead Wrath. Please enjoy.
What is Evil Dead Burn about?
Directed by French filmmaker Sébastien Vaniček, the sixth installment in the franchise follows Alice (Souheila Yacoub), a young widow who travels to her late husband’s family home at the request of his kin to mourn his passing. Not exactly the most welcoming bunch to begin with, the family gathering takes a deadly turn after her husband’s younger brother, Joseph, accidentally summons flesh-possessing demons when he removes the spells concealing the Kandarian Dagger.

As it turns out, Alice and Will didn’t have what one would call a solid relationship. Will was abusive, and Alice wanted to leave him. Clueless to this side of their beloved son, Will’s family pushes Alice’s boundaries regarding her life decisions as they wish to honor their son.
What begins as an already uncomfortable reunion quickly descends into a bloody nightmare as Alice’s in-laws become possessed by demonic Deadites one by one.
What is the Kandarian Dagger?
Fans will recognize the weapon with a human-bone handle from Sam Raimi‘s original 1981 horror comedy Evil Dead, as it is discovered alongside the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis by Professor Raymond Knowby in the ruins of Castle Kandar. It is super handy at exterminating demons. (Fun fact: It also finds its way into Jason Goes to Hell, but that is a different article for a different day.)
Who is killed in Evil Dead Burn?
Everyone except Alice. Here is how it happens:
Will Price (George Pullar) is killed by Deadite Jessica (Greta Van Den Brink), the same Deadite from the Evil Dead Rise‘s cold open. He crashes into her after driving off in a huff, and while trapped in the car, she burns him alive, then uses the Deadite version of him to get to his family so the Deadites can get the dagger. As a Deadite, Alice shoves the Kandarian Dagger into his heart.
Edgar Price (Erroll Shand), the Price family patriarch, is turned by his dead son Will when he goes to say his final goodbyes. Alice uses a rotary saw to finally kill Deadite Edgar.
After his father Edgar infects Joseph Price (Hunter Doohan), Alice repeatedly stabs him in the face and heart with the dagger.
Edgar attacks Joseph’s girlfriend Thya (Luciane Buchanan) during a car ride, shoving a headrest through her head. After walking back to the vacation house, she pulls out the headrest and launches an attack on the family. She is finally killed when Joseph bashes her head in with a heavy dishwasher door.

Susan Price (Tandi Wright) is turned into a Deadite by her husband via a gross and bloody kiss. She is eventually decapitated by Alice with a hedge trimmer.
Polly Price (Maude Davey) is made a Deadite by Thya, who sucks on her dentures and puts them back in Polly’s mouth. Despite being cut in half with lawn equipment, Polly continues in her Deadite form and claims a new victim in a post-credit scene, continuing the Evil Dead legacy.
Jake the Creamator (Shyamal Singh) is ripped apart by Will offscreen. Chunks of him hit Edgar in the face.
Jared (Keanu Karim) and Leo (Victory Ndukwe) are just two sad sacks who enjoy fishing and end up victims of Jessica. Jared is speared by multiple fishing hooks before he is eventually sliced and diced in the water, while Leo is cooked alive when Jessica brings up the temperature on the lake to a boil.
Little Girl (Coco White), the manager’s daughter, at the end is killed by Deadite Mommy Ellie (Alyssa Sutherland) from Evil Dead Rise, who makes a surprise return in a post-credit scene.
Max the Dog (Dax the Dog) is stabbed to death by Deadite Edgar, then returns as a Deadite Mutt, who is eventually put to rest by the Kandarian dagger.
How does the ending set up the next Evil Dead film?
In a post-credits scene, the daughter of the crematorium manager discovers the unclaimed remains of Ellie Sutherland, the main Deadite from Evil Dead Rise. When the little girl shakes the container, Ellie suddenly appears in the mirror before materializing behind her and violently snapping her neck. After killing the girl, Ellie delivers the line, “Mommy’s back.”
Also, Polly drags herself out into the main highway and manages to grab a helpful tourist who stops to make sure she is OK. So, there is that as well.
The next Evil Dead movie after Evil Dead Burn is Evil Dead Wrath, scheduled for theatrical release on April 7, 2028.

Wait, is Bruce Campbell in this?
Yep. If you look closely, Campbell has a cameo in two photographs depicting Grandpa Benjamin Price.
