Friends and loved ones of the four slain University of Idaho students — Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Ethan Chapin, and Xana Kernodle — who were brutally killed in their beds at 1122 King Road on November 13, 2022, sit down for interviews in Netflix’s The Idaho Murders: College Nightmare documentary series. Alivea Goncalves, Kaylee’s older sister, opens up about what happened in the hours after the shocking murders and her powerful impact statement during convicted killer Bryan Kohberger’s sentencing hearing.

Where is Alivea Goncalves today?
Alivea currently lives in Los Angeles with her husband and family. She had previously worked as a project manager in the short-term rental industry, according to her LinkedIn.

Since her sister’s brutal murder, Alivea has worked to get SB 1250 signed into Idaho law. The new state law exempts photographs and images of victims taken during coroner or death investigations from public records requests. SB 1250 went into effect on July 1, 2026.
On July 27, The New York Times reported that her sister’s killer had filed a petition to seek a new court case and reverse his guilty plea. “My actual innocence is my truth, and the plea, hinged on by false promises and blatant disinformation, MUST be withdrawn,” he said in a statement.
In response, Alivea posted a series of photos of Kaylee on TikTok and responded directly to Bryan: “What is it like needing this much attention just to feel real? Sounds like someone isn’t liking prison… what a shame.” Bryan is serving four life sentences without the possibility of parole.

The last time Alivea addressed Bryan was during her victim impact statement at the sentencing hearing in July 2025. “I’m proud of what I did,” Alivea said in The Idaho Murders: College Nightmare. “I wish I had done more, but I’m proud of the decisions that I made to not show vulnerability in the traditional sense. Because for me, it was about reclaiming power and reclaiming control. It’s important to me to, I guess we could say, diminish him, to kind of break down and expose who he really is. He’s really just a coward, so to be able to, even just a little bit, put him back in that place was such an amazing feeling.”
Who is Alivea Goncalves married to?
Alivea is married to Robbie Stevenson. They said “I do” on August 20, 2021.
In the documentary series, Alivea recalled hearing from her parents, Steve and Kristi, the morning after the murders. Once her sister, Autumn, confirmed that Kaylee had been killed, Alivea and her husband packed up their family and drove from Los Angeles to Moscow, Idaho, to be with their family.
How many kids does Alivea Goncalves have?
Alivea and her husband have three children together. Their third child, Theodora MaddieKay Stevenson, arrived on February 24, 2023, just three months after the murders.
Theodora’s middle name is a tribute to Maddie and Kaylee. The duo had been best friends since childhood, and the Goncalves family considered Maddie one of their own.
