After a five-year break from studio releases, Andy Stott has returned to his toolbox for a new album. Late Loop, a press release notes, is the product of fewer tools than usual: The British producer made the record using no basslines, no reverb, and no effects but a delay unit. After evolving from an experimental drone album to “something like brass band concrète,” Stott decided he wanted the album to be more song-led, the press release notes.
