Where is Ben Chan now? The Jeopardy! champion recently got a new job. Find out what he has been up to recently.
Ben Chan, from Green Bay, Wisconsin, was a philosophy professor during his Jeopardy! run, a job he held for over 10 years, according to Game Show Wiki. He has been teaching at St. Norbert College in De Pere since 2013.
Chan won nine games in 2023, racking up a total of $254,600 in 10 games. He then competed in the Tournament of Champions, but lost to Yogesh Raut, becoming the first runner-up. Chan also competed in the Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament, but lost to Shane Whitlock.
He hasn’t competed on Jeopardy! since, but quickly became a household name. Now, a new article gave an update on the game show contestant and his new role.
According to Fox 11, Chan is now teaching at Lawrence University, Wisconsin. However, he will not be teaching philosophy there, as the school cut that program this past year.

Chan joins two new professors, who will teach music and opera studies, as well as psychology. They will all start on Monday, September 14 for the fall semester.
According to the University’s website, Chan has taught at Lawrence before. The Jeopardy! winner was a visiting associate professor of philosophy in 2025. He also previously taught at the school from 2011 to 2013.
Now, he is set to return and teach biomedical ethics, focusing on ethics of technology, food ethics, and “the Good Life.” Chan earned his bachelor’s degree from Swarthmore College, a Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles, and completed postdoctoral work in bioethics at the National Institutes of Health.
So, if you are a Jeopardy! fan attending Lawrence University, try to take one of his courses to be in the presence of a winner.
